Mercer County Republican Party Slates Two County Board Candidates

The Mercer County Republican Party has filled two vacancies on the November ballot.  Bob Flowers of Alexis will run for County Board in District 1 and Sonia M. Hochstetler of Sherrard will run for County Board in District 3. Flowers is running against Democrat Jan Occhi of Keithsburg in District 1. Hochstetler is running unopposed. The Republican Party did not slate a candidate to run against Mercer County Treasurer Bev Lower. The Mercer County Democratic Party did not slate any candidates at the deadline today, meaning they have vacancies in District 3 and District 5.
Republican Steve Moreland of Aledo is running unopposed in District 5. In District 2, Democrat Gary Gregg of Viola is running unopposed and in District 4, Republican incumbent Chris DeFrieze of New Boston is being challenged by Democrat James Campbell of Joy.
For countywide races, incumbent Democratic Sheriff Dave Staley is being challenged by Republican Dusty Terrill. And appointed Democratic County Clerk Sara Blaser is facing a contested race from Republican Jay Doherty.
Independents can file June 18th through the 25th.
Four incumbents on the Mercer County Board are not seeking re-election–Karen Jones, Brian Anseeuw, Lori Sindelar and Mark Bieri.
