Will downtown Aledo get a significant boost in 2020? Five properties have been acquired in the last year by former Aledo resident W.J. Albertson—the former Aledo Meat Market, Hall’s Shoes, and Appleton Law Office storefronts along with the old Cooper TV building and Mercer Carnegie Library. He met with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency last summer, according to Mayor Chris Hagloch.
Future commercial plans for the properties still remain unknown at this time. As for 353 Court, the firm’s Erik Reader discussed the state historic preservation agency’s role in redevelopment of the properties. He spoke with WRMJ last summer after Albertson’s purchase of the Aledo Meat Market, Hall’s Shoes, and Appleton Law Office storefronts became public.
353 Court was retained by the city last year in a multi-year agreement.
