No More Wait At Edwards River Bridge West Of Joy

It took over two years, but the traffic signal has finally been removed at the Illinois Route 17 Edwards River bridge project west of Joy. An Illinois Department of Transportation spokesperson tells WRMJ “this project should be 100-percent complete by the end of the week. The contractor will be working on completing punch list items this week.”

The work began in August of 2018 and reduced the bridge to one lane with a traffic signal. The project was originally scheduled to be completed this past August. Most of the final activity occurred below traffic level with the bridge beams.
