April 6 Ballot Finalized In Mercer County

The ballot finalized in Mercer County for the April 6 consolidated election. Some of the contested races include eight candidates running for four seats on the Mercer Township board. There’s also an advisory referendum asking Mercer Township voters to consider allowing ATV and UTV use on township roads. There’s one contested race for an Aledo City Council seat in Ward 4. Incumbent Terry Bewley being challenged by former alderman Jay Doherty. In Keithsburg, incumbent mayor Allen Henshaw is being challenged by Sharon Reason. In Joy, there is a contested race for village president between Mark Heater and Todd Heath. In Viola, incumbent village president Kirk Doonan is being challenged by Michael Lester. And the Sherrard Public Library District is asking for an increase in the library tax rate.
