The group has been holding hearings concerning a deadly COVID outbreak at the LaSalle Veterans Home. Swanson was joined by his Republican colleagues at the state capitol Tuesday, providing sharp criticism to the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs under the leadership of the Pritzker administration.
COVID-19 claimed the lives of 36 residents of the LaSalle Veterans Home last fall and a report found those deaths could have been prevented. According to Illinois Department of Human Services Inspector General findings released late last month, the lack of a COVID plan and failures in leadership contributed to the outbreak. Swanson says they are still looking for answers that weren’t given at the hearings.
