The American Red Cross is in need of blood during the summer months at least as much if not more than during the rest of the year, according to an agency spokesman, and Mercer County donors can help out Tuesday. When schools let out for summer and families set off on vacation, the American Red Cross typically sees a decline in donors, which can impact patient care.
Red Cross spokesman Joe Zydlo says there are some common misconceptions about who can donate.
The next Mercer County Red Cross in Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. You can also register on-line at redcrossblood.org or by calling 800-RED-CROSS.
