A pre-trial continuance for the Sherrard man accused of running over a Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy in late November. 29 year old Jesse Walsh appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court this morning with the matter continued to February 13th. He faces Class 2 and Class 4 felony charges in connection with an incident the Wednesday before Thanksgiving where Deputy Dennis Sabel was struck by Walsh’s vehicle near Sherrard. Both Mercer County and Rock Island County officers were involved in the pursuit of Walsh after attempting a traffic stop. He fled on foot after crashing his vehicle and was arrested a day later by Moline police. Walsh remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail on $250,000 bond. Sabel was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City after the incident, but is now recovering from his injuries at home.
