Mercer County High School teacher Mark Artcher has waived his preliminary hearing in the criminal sexual assault case filed against him. He appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court this morning and entered not guilty pleas to a Class X felony and two Class 2 felonies. The charges allege three different victims under the age of 13. His attorney—Katherine Drummond of Rock Island spoke with WRMJ following this morning’s court appearance.
Artcher remains free on $100,000 bond. Judge Ted Kutsunis did modify bond conditions to allow the defendant to have supervised contact with his minor child. He was placed on leave by the school district last month. A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for June 17th.
