Serious injuries avoided in a three-vehicle accident on U.S. 67 in Mercer County. The crash occurred Saturday. According to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department report, all three vehicles were traveling south with the lead vehicle slowing to make a left-hand turn. The trail vehicle was unable to stop, hitting the second vehicle and causing a chain reaction. One vehicle caught fire, but the driver was able to escape. Matherville and Viola firefighters responded to the accident. All three drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
