Jeremy Finch is returning as head wrestling coach of the Mercer County Gold Eagles. He was hired by the Mercer County Board of Education Wednesday night. In his first stint as head wrestling coach, Finch led the Eagles to a 3rd place finish in state in 2012 and state runner-up in 2013. Those two teams were inducted into the Mercer County High School Hall of Fame in 2019. Finch stepped down after the 2013 season and was replaced by Steve Speaker, who resigned in April after seven seasons as head coach. Finch is a social studies teacher at Mercer County Jr. High.
Also Wednesday night, Brad Hofmann was hired as Mercer County High School P.E. teacher.
Both Finch and Hofmann are 1994 Aledo High School grads.
