An Aledo man is sentenced to five-years in prison for hitting a Bettendorf police officer with his car. Police say 24-year-old Jonathan Swearingen pleaded guilty to assault on a police officer in February after leading police on a chase that ended in Davenport in November. Police say Swearingen instigated the chase with a woman and five-year-old girl in the backseat of his car. Last week, district court Judge Henry Latham sentenced him on assault, eluding, and child endangerment charges.
