An Aledo man found in contempt of court last fall has now submitted a $1.4 million bill to Mercer County Circuit Court. 43 year old Michael Paladino is calling the three-page itemized list “incarceration damages.” He was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail after numerous verbal exchanges with Judge Greg Chickris during his jury trial in late October. Paladino was standing trial on charges of obstructing justice, resisting arrest and a traffic offense of electronic communications device stemming from an August of 2018 arrest. Paladino was arguing the court had lack of jurisdiction in his case because he claims to be a sovereign citizen. He was recently released from the Mercer County Jail. A new pre-trial conference has been scheduled in his case for January 21st. Paladino has also submitted a number of hand-written court filings pertaining to his case, including one that reads “notice to compel the court to recognize the false arrest-state and federal rights violations-due process damages-fraud.”
