There’s a request to turn the thermostat down a few degrees. Both MidAmerican and Ameren Illinois are asking customers to use less natural gas during these last super-cold days this week. Both utilities say cold weather elsewhere in the country is causing supply problems. The companies are asking businesses to make the biggest changes, that way people at home can depend on a steady supply of gas to get them through the cold snap.
