Two longtime 4-H volunteers inducted into the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame. The honor goes to Bill Boruff of New Boston and Pam Berenger of Reynolds. Boruff was a 10 year member of the Joy Ag 4-H club, which later became the Joy-Eliza Ag 4-H Club. He is a third generation leader of the club. His grandpa, mother, and uncle were all leaders of the club. Now, Boruff and his wife, Stacey, lead the club and his children are members. Berenger has been part of the 4-H family dating back to the 1980s when her kids first joined 4-H. She has served as 4-H club leader for not only her own children’s clubs, but also her grandkids as leader of the Hayburners 4-H Club in Milan. More recently, Berenger has organized horse shows and raised money to pay for the judges and ribbons. She also organized a horse Special Interest Club and secured a grant to help get the club up and running. Boruff and Berenger were among 71 4-H leaders statewide recognized during the Illinois State Fair last month.
