The former treasurer of the Matherville Fire Department facing theft charges. 29 year old Stephanie Nass is charged with a Class 1 felony, accusing her of “knowingly obtaining by deception, control over property of the Matherville Fire Department, being cash, having a total value in excess of $10,000, but less than $100,000 in that she used the property knowing such use would probably deprive the owner permanently of such use or benefit.” A pre-trial conference is set for Dec. 16. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The alleged theft occurred between May of 2018 and August of 2019. Class 1 felonies are punishable by a minimum of probation up to 4-to-15 years in prison upon conviction.
