An Alexis man sentenced to eight years in prison in a criminal sexual assault case. 52-year-old Robert Breshears Jr. received the punishment Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court. A jury found him guilty of four Class 1 felony counts during an August trial. The jury deliberated for over an hour after two days of testimony. Breshears was arrested on a warrant in September of 2020 stemming from allegations involving a female between the ages of 13 and 17. Breshears had been out on bond but was remanded immediately after sentencing hearing. He must also register as a sex offender for life.
