Black bear traveling through Keithsburg Saturday night.
It’s been quite the journey for a black bear that has made its way through Mercer County. Laura Petreikis is a conservation police officer with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. She spoke with WRMJ News Director Jim Taylor Monday morning.
Petreikis says the bear has generated plenty of attention on its journey through western Illinois.
She says it is believed that the bear traveled from the wild in Wisconsin and was not an animal that had been held captive.
