A house fire in the Alexis area leads to five arrests. According to a press release, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Alexis Fire Department early Tuesday morning at a property located at the intersection of 290th Street and 1st Avenue. As a result of the investigation, 18-year-old Emily Surbur of Galesburg was arrested for criminal trespass to a residence. Four juveniles were also arrested—two for arson and two for criminal trespass to a residence. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The matter remains under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, the Alexis Fire Department and the Illinois State Fire Marshals Office.
