Darin Brock
A former Keithsburg man has been granted a conditional release under Illinois’ Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act. Judge Ted Kutsunis rendered the ruling today in Mercer County Circuit Court concerning 48 year old Darin Brock. The conditions will be spelled out when he returns to court March 11th. Until that time, he’ll remain in Illinois Department of Human Services custody at a treatment facility in Rushville. Brock was deemed sexually violent in 2000 and gained his first conditional release in 2008, but was confined again in January of 2017 after a battery and disorderly conduct complaint was filed in Bloomington, Illinois where he was residing. He has since been acquitted of those charges. At the age of 19, Brock was convicted of sexually assaulting an elderly Joy woman and was sentenced to 20-years in prison. Before his release from prison, the state filed the sexually violent persons’ petition.
Also in Mercer County Circuit Court today, another man, 54 year old Daniel Hutt waived his right for a petition of discharge from the Illinois Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act. He will continue to receive treatment through the Illinois Department of Human Services in a confined facility. Hutt was declared sexually violent in 2007. The former rural Aledo man was sentenced to four years in prison in March of 2006 after pleading guilty to a Class 2 felony of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The charge stemmed from an incident involving a three year old girl. Hutt’s case will be reviewed again later this year.
