High Water Shuts Down Barge Traffic; River Market Limited For Local Farmers

The wet spring has not only delayed planting in western Illinois, but the high water on the Mississippi River has stalled barge traffic, which limits market opportunities for farmers.

 

That’s Mercer County Farm Bureau president Michael Zecher who farms in the Aledo and Joy areas.
