Aledo Fire Chief Dennis Litwiler is retiring. He has spent 44 years with the department, including the last 20 as chief. He began serving as an Aledo firefighter in 1978 and was appointed chief in December of 2001. He played a key role in getting a new fire station constructed in 2012.
Aledo Fire Protection District Trustees have named Tony Myers as new fire chief. He has been with the department for 27 years.
In addition to Litlwiler stepping down, fire department captain Jeff Benson is also retiring after 42 years of service.
Trustees are also announcing Pat Rentfro as the new assistant fire chief. He will replace Don Korns, who will stay with the department, but is retiring in a few years.
