More ambulance talk in Mercer County this week. The Mercer County Ambulance Committee will meet Thursday. They have received zero bids for a new ambulance contract that begins on Jan. 1. Coverage involves the fire protection districts of Aledo, Greene Township, Joy, Seaton, and Keithsburg.
The committee released a statement last week saying they “will work diligently to resolve this matter and do our best to have an ambulance service in place when the existing contract expires.” The current agreement with Genesis Ambulance expires on December 31. They have provided the service for nine years but did not bid on the latest contract.
