A Sherrard woman’s animal cruelty case has been continued to later this winter. Karen Plambeck appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court Monday morning for a status hearing where a pre-trial conference was set for March 8. The continuance was attributed to the defense. The case involves four horses she owned. Accusations involve failing to provide the animals a sufficient quantity of good wholesome food. The horses received body condition scores from a licensed veterinarian of 2, 3, 3 and 3 out of a possible score of 9, with a score of 1 being emaciated. Plambeck faces five misdemeanor counts. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Sherrard woman posted $1,000 bond and was released from the Mercer County Jail shortly after her arrest in October of 2019. The court entered an order last January allowing her to travel to Iowa and Florida.
