The Mercer County Board set to host a Truth in Taxation hearing this week over an approximate 10-percent tax increase. Former Mercer County Board member Ted Pappas of Sherrard says some ideas for the county to save money originated from a concerned citizens meeting he was part of earlier this month.
Pappas believes the county can save as much as $50,000 in a restructured Bellwether agreement. The firm is currently paid $6,000 per month plus $500 per month for expenses and another $500 per month for debt service management. The Truth in Taxation hearing is Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at the Mercer County VFW.
