Mercer County’s firearm deer harvest is up from last year. Hunters took in 532 deer the first weekend Nov. 20-22 and another 301 deer the second weekend Dec. 3-6 for a total harvest of 833, which compares to last year’s total of 789.
The 2020 firearm deer harvest numbers for area counties include 453 in Henderson; 449 in Henry; 1,136 in Knox; 693 in Rock Island and 471 deer in Warren County.
The numbers were released Wednesday by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Randolph County had the largest firearm deer harvest in Illinois at 2,245. The statewide number was 76,579, which was higher than last year’s total of 75,417.
