Mercer County School Board Approves Tuition Waiver Plan; Request Now Goes To ISBE

The Mercer County School Board moving forward with a plan to allow tuition waivers for non-resident students, specifically children of current or future staff members who live outside of the district. Unit 404 Superintendent Scott Petrie initially brought up the idea last month.

The Mercer County School Board approved the issue Wednesday night following a public hearing with the request now moving to the Illinois State Board of Education.
Petrie has indicated that there are currently two staff members interested in non-resident tuition waivers for their children.
