The Mercer County School Board hears from a representative from the group Illinois Gun Owners Rights. Chris Lewis of rural Monmouth was asking the board to consider adopting a resolution–calling for local districts to have the choice to allow teachers to be armed.
The Unit 404 Board of Education did not act on the resolution last night because it was not on the agenda. Board president Julie Wagner says the resolution could appear on the agenda in April or May.
