Mercer County High School senior Dani Hagens wins 1st place at the state level for the 11th-12th grade division, for the Department of Illinois American Legion Auxiliary Essay Contest. Hagens received a $1,200 scholarship for her winning essay. On July 12, the Seaton teenager attended the Department Convention in Springfield to read her essay and to receive her award.
