The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office has responded to multiple vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts over the spring and early summer. These incidents appear to be connected to the rampant vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts that have plagued the Quad Cities over the last few years. Mercer County citizens should ensure they lock their vehicles, don’t leave any valuables in the vehicles, and always keep the keys in a locked residence or garage.
Additionally, it wouldn’t hurt to leave on any exterior lights at night. These crimes are mostly perpetrated in, and aided by, the cover of darkness.
