Illinois State Police report a fatal accident in Warren County heading into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. It occurred Wednesday afternoon along Illinois Route 116. Killed in the one vehicle crash was 25 year old Christopher Sage of Knoxville. He was a passenger in Dodge Van driven by 18 year old Scott Monroe of Tremont. State Police say Monroe was distracted from inside the vehicle and traveling at a high rate of speed. This caused him to swerve and lose control of the vehicle. The van left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned several times. Sage was sitting in a modified seat with a modified seat-belt, which failed to function properly. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Monroe was transported to OSF Holy Family Medical Center with minor injuries.
