A plea date has been delayed again in the official misconduct and misdemeanor battery case against Aledo Police Chief Chris Sullivan.
The matter was scheduled to be heard today (Friday) in Mercer County Circuit Court, but both parties agreed to the continuance during a Thursday phone conference. The matter will be reset within seven days.
Sullivan, who is free on bond, was on paid leave from the city from August of 2022, when he was arrested, through October of this year when he was placed on unpaid leave.
Sullivan was charged following an Illinois State Police investigation. The allegation involved “a battery having been reportedly committed in his capacity as Aledo Police Chief while conducting an arrest.” A special prosecutor from Henry County is handling the case.
When Sullivan was arrested, he was also serving as city administrator. The city council has since hired Mike Chausse for that position. Retired Moline police captain Trevor Fisk is serving as interim police chief.
