Peacefully Protesting In Sherrard; Small Town Voices Make Big Time Noise For Black Lives Matter Movement

The Black Lives Matter movement comes to Sherrard, population 640. The peaceful demonstration on Thursday involved a march, reading of children’s books and several speakers, including 2007 Sherrard High School grad Amelia Arku.

Among those attending the event were Madi Finch and several of her classmates from Mercer County High School.

 

Mercer County Sheriff Dusty Terrill was also on hand. He didn’t see or experience any problems.

 

The event took place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday at Sherrard Park.
