Voter turnout light in Mercer County for Tuesday’s primary. 2,346 of 12,125 registered voters cast ballots for an official turnout of 19.35 percent. 1,301 Republicans cast ballots with 1,045 Democrats.
In the gubernatorial race, Mercer County Democratic voters chose J.B. Pritzker over Chris Kennedy 580 to 313.
On the Republican side, Mercer County voters chose Jeanne Ives over Bruce Rauner 693 to 587.
There was one contested primary race in Mercer County on Tuesday night, it was for Republican Precinct Committeeman in New Boston Township. Chris DeFrieze defeated Laurie Bluedorn 45 to 34.
