Rockridge scored 20 unanswered points in the second quarter as they pummeled Riverdale 60-25 in high school football Monday night. The Rockets lead 21-13 after the first quarter before they took off. Rockridge sophomore running back Peyton Locke set a school record by scoring six touchdowns while running for 177 yards in 14 carries. The Rockets improved to 4-0 with one game remaining at Spring Valley Hall on Friday.
In high school volleyball, Orion beat Mercer County 25-17, 25-12. Sherrard stopped Galva 25-16, 25-8 and Rockridge beat Rock Island 22-25, 25-22, 25-22. Princeville beat Wethersfield 25-15, 25-18.
In Freshman-Sophomore football Mid-County nipped Mercer County 16-14 and Stark County shut out Annawan-Wethersfield 14-0.
In junior high girls basketball Rockridge beat Mercer County 24-9 in 7th grade play at 25-13 in the 8th grade game.
Rockridge’s Nate Henry was named to the IBCA 2021 All-State Boys Class 2A team. United’s Declan Flynn and Cormaic Flynn both received Special Mention on the Class 1A team.
