Western Illinois Congresswoman Cheri Bustos announcing today that the Senate has passed her bill to designate the U.S. Post Office in Alpha as the “Captain Joshua E. Steele Post Office.” In September, Bustos’ bill passed the House and, with Senate passage, it is headed to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law. Captain Steele was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 17th, 2007 while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. Bustos introduced this legislation as a way to recognize and commemorate his sacrifice back in his community. After the bill is signed into law, Bustos will hold an event in Alpha to mark the renaming. Steele was raised on a family farm in North Henderson.
