The Sherrard School Board has approved a bass fishing club for the high school. The action will allow the school to compete at the IHSA level. School Resource Officer Mike Mendoza is leading the effort.
The IHSA has offered a state tournament series in bass fishing since 2009. Last school year, 311 high schools in Illinois had bass fishing teams, including Mercer County.
