Help needed in June to staff a replica of the Vietnam War Memorial in Aledo. A meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Mercer County VFW to discuss the attraction. The display will be set up June 3-6 and needs attention 24-hours a day says Steve Johnson, who’s leading the effort to bring the Vietnam War Traveling Tribute to town.
If you’d like to donate to the cause, you can make checks payable to MCVT, PO Box 24, Aledo, IL 61231. The display is part of the Rhubarb Festival weekend, but even if the festival is canceled the traveling tribute is still coming to town. A decision on the Rhubarb Fest will be made April 13.
