Aiming to boost rural Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) recruitment, local State Rep. Dan Swanson has sponsored House Bill 2864 in the Illinois House. The bill allows for exceptions to the credentialing process in rural areas allowing nurses, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses with active licenses to apply to serve as volunteers to perform the same work as certified EMTs.
He discussed the legislation with WRMJ News Director Jim Taylor Wednesday morning.
