Tigers’ Season Ends In Sectional Semis

Sherrard (22-7) saw their season end with a 59-45 loss to Eureka (25-8) in the semifinals of the IHSA 2A Rockridge Sectional Wednesday. The Hornets led 25-10 midway through the second quarter. The Tigers cut the deficit to four, 40-36 at the end of the third quarter. It never got closer than that, as Eureka pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Addison Pickens led Sherrard with 13 points. Kyla Elsbury added 10 in a losing effort. Ellie Cahill poured in a game-high 19 points for the Hornets. Ella Ausmus was also in double figures with 16.

Eureka will take on Deer Creek-Mackinaw (29-6) in the sectional championship Thursday. The Chiefs beat Monmouth-Roseville 64-50 Tuesday.
