Tigers Stopped In Regional Championship

Sherrard ran into a buzz saw in the Sherrard Class 2A Regional championship match Thursday night. Macomb dominated from the start en route to a 25-10, 25-9 win. The Bombers advance to the Knoxville Sectional with a 32-5 record. The Tigers close out the season tying the school record of 32 wins against 5 losses, matching the 1989 team that finished fourth in state. Sherrard won the Three Rivers Athletic Conference west division title. In the other regional championships that feed into Knoxville, Quincy Notre Dame beat Illini West 23-25, 25-14, 25-14 at Carthage; Riverdale beat Kewanee 20-25, 25-15, 25-23 at Prophetstown; and Princeton beat Knoxville 25-16, 25-14 at Bureau Valley.

In Class 1A, Hartsburg-Emden beat United 25-13, 25-14 and Pearl City beat Annawan 25-21, 25-19.
