The attorney for a Viola man charged in a child porn case wants his client released on a recognizance bond. Attorney David Morrison made that request Tuesday in Mercer County Circuit Court concerning 44 year old James Eric Haley. Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee asked for his bond to remain at $500,000. Judge Peter Church took the matter under advisement and will render a ruling on March 9th. Haley faces 16 felony counts stemming from an investigation involving a 15 year old girl. Lee has indicated previously that the federal prosecutor’s office is reviewing the matter and the case could be moved to U.S. District Court. Haley remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail. He has been in custody since his arrest last August.
