Sherrard (22-6) won the 2A Mercer County Regional with a 51-31 win over the host Golden Eagles (13-18) in the championship game Friday. Addison Pickens scored a game-high 15 points for the Tigers. Kyla Elsbury was also in double figures for Sherrard with 11. Molly Hofmann led Mercer County with seven points.
Sherrard advances to the 2A Rockridge Sectional, where the Tigers will play Eureka Tuesday in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. The first semifinal will feature Monmouth-Roseville playing Deer Creek-Mackinaw at 6 p.m.
