The latest in 3-dimensional mammography technology is now available at Genesis Medical Center- Aledo. The technology has shown to have benefits in accuracy of imaging and improved early detection of breast cancer. According to studies, the addition of 3D technology, to mammography is associated with a decrease in the number of patients called back for additional screening. Cancer detection rates are also improved with the use of 3D imaging. The use of 3D mammography does not change the experience of the traditional mammogram. Compression of the breast is still required.
