The Mercer County community losing a valuable resource. Stephanie Braucht of Joy died Wednesday. Her passion was researching local history and she was a frequent guest on WRMJ airwaves. The last story she told us was the day the Chicago Cubs played an exhibition game at the Mercer County Fairgrounds in 1923—ironically it was the same day she died—October 4th. This conversation occurred last July.
Braucht taught in the Rockridge School District and also served on the Mercer County Academic Foundation Board in addition to her role with the Mercer County Historical Society.
