The Mercer Carnegie Library Board seeking up to $93,000 in TIF funding for a new building project. The TIF funds would be used for parking and sidewalks says architect Mark Misselhorn.
Ground is expected to be broken in June for the new library and the Aledo City Council indicated last night that the requested TIF funds wouldn’t be acted on until October in advance of Fiscal Year 2019. Misselhorn says the library board is okay with that.
The new building is designed at just under 4,500 square feet with a total price tag of around $1-million. Misselhorn is hopeful the new library will be open by the first quarter of 2019. It will be built in a vacant lot just north of Blick & Blick Oil.
