Darin Brock
A former Keithsburg man has been a regular in Mercer County Circuit Court for nearly 30 years now. 47 year old Darin Brock made another court appearance Monday afternoon. He is seeking a conditional release under Illinois’ Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act. It would be his second conditional release. He was deemed sexually violent in 2000 and gained a conditional release in 2008, but was confined again in January of 2017 after a battery and disorderly conduct complaint in Bloomington, Illinois, where he was residing. Brock is now in custody at an Illinois Department of Human Services treatment facility in Rushville. In 1990 at the age of 19, he was convicted of sexually assaulting an elderly Joy woman and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was then declared sexually violent eleven years later. The Illinois Attorney General’s office is opposed to a conditional release. The court administrator’s office in Rock Island will set the next hearing date.
