Aledo Police Chief Chris Sullivan confirming that a stolen pick-up truck from Aledo has been recovered in the Iowa Quad Cities. He says no arrests have been been, but there is a suspect and an investigation is continuing. The truck was stolen from a southeast Aledo neighborhood last Thursday.
Sullivan says while Aledo has very few stolen vehicles, and rarely have burglaries of homes or vehicles, this incident is a stark reminder that it can happen anywhere. He says taking a few, simple, common sense, safety measures can help assure your vehicles and property stay safe.
- Always remove the keys from your car
- Lock your car doors
- Do not leave valuable items in plain sight inside your vehicle
- Lock your house doors when you are not home and at night
- Call the Aledo Police Department if you will be away overnight, on vacation, or away from home for a length of time and we will make extra patrols near your home and check on it frequently
Sullivan says the Aledo Police Department patrols all of the neighborhoods in Aledo every night. He says they are particularly vigilant to check on people out walking or driving through residential neighborhoods late at night and in the early morning hours.
If any resident sees or hears something suspicious, out of the ordinary, or that just does not feel right, they are asked to call the police immediately.
