Governor Announces New COVID-19 Restrictions Take Effect Across Illinois Starting Friday

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has announced restrictions that include shutting down casinos, museums, and theaters to help combat COVID-19 spread. The shutdown starts Friday. The governor also announced that retail stores must drop to 25-percent capacity and indoor group sports and all types of gatherings, even at home, are banned. He was joined at his Tuesday COVID-19 briefing by IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ekike.

Nearly 5,900 patients were in Illinois hospitals because of the virus as of Monday night.
