Construction on an elevator project will begin next month at the Mercer County Courthouse. Mercer County Public Building Commission Chairman Montie Schell provided an update to WRMJ Tuesday night following a pre-construction meeting.
The Schumacher Elevator Company of Denver, Iowa has been awarded the contract. They submitted a base bid of $138,500. The project will take a minimum of four to six weeks to complete with an alternate courtroom being set up on the first floor of the courthouse for those that can’t access the third floor via stairs.
