As a local church prepares for another Community Christmas Dinner, organizers are remembering the key contributions from a local volunteer. Nancy Watkins of Aledo played a key role in the Messiah Lutheran Church tradition. She passed away in December of 2019 and is missed greatly says Kyle Koresko, who helps with the Community Christmas Dinner effort.
This marks the 44th year for the Messiah Lutheran Church Community Christmas Dinner. This year is delivery or carry-out only due to the pandemic.
The Mercer County Jaycees honored Watkins’ memory earlier this year by renaming the annual Toys For Needy Kids campaign to Toys For Nancy’s Kids.
